DAY 2 BOAT TRIP

 

Breakfast

FULL DAY BOAT TRIP The typical corfiot fisherman’s boat “kaiki” picks us up from the hotel pier, and we begin our sailing day

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Enjoy the view of the Old Castle and the town.  Disembark at the old port of Corfu and visit the historic centre, UNESCO monument of world heritage, the town of Corfu, Kerkyra or Coryfo in Greek.  Only by strolling around the narrow streets [kantounia] one will actually appreciate the unique flavour of the town.  It’s main monuments, the Palace of St Michael and George, the Liston area, the Mayor’s house, the Old Venecian Fortress and many more are beautiful to the eye.  Hopefully there will be time to visit the church of St. Spiridon, the patron saint of the island.

 

We re-embark our boat to continue our sail to the north,  passing by the island of Vido which lies approx. 1/2 a mile from the town’s old port, to the fascinating rock formations along the east coast.  Arrive at the beautiful beach resort of Kalami, with the White House of Durrell family at the beach front & enjoy swimming.

Dinner inside the Venetian castle at the Sailing Club restaurant.

Walk in the medieval castle and enjoy the atmospheric interior with the old buildings now housing the Ionian University, the old clock tower, the views over the old port, opposite the island of Vido.

DAY 3  JEEP SAFARI

This full day jeep safari shows most of the beauties of the island, through lush vegetation of olives groves, cypress trees, vineyards and cultivated land.

Drive to the mountain Pantokrator mountain, enjoy the superb view of the island stretching below and visit the monastery. Drive through the villages of Strinilas, Sgourades, Zygos,Sokraki and Spartylas and reach the beautiful village of Korakiana.

 

 

Continuing to Skripero village, Troumbeta, Alimatades, Vistonas, Makrades and Krini we arrive to Lakones village and Bella Vista point.

Lunch in local restaurant.

Drive down to Paleocastritsa, visit the famous monastery and the museum.

Return to the hotel.

BBQ dinner in the hotel, by the pool, overlooking the Ionian sea.

DAY 4  HIKING TOUR

 

Breakfast

All over the green island old footpaths connect villages and olive groves. Depending on the location of your hotel, you will head out for a Half Day hike, possibly with the visit of an olive grove and press en route.
